U.S. Montgomery Land Office - abstract of money returned, 1912-1919.

District land office Receivers were responsible for all financial transactions relating to the sale and disposition of public lands. This series provides a compilation of all the money returned to individuals by the Receiver on a daily basis. Each entry includes the date, the receipt number, the serial number, the check number, the amount returned to the depositor, the amount paid to the contest clerk, and the amount paid to the U.S. Treasurer. The amount paid to the Treasurer is broken down by homestead fees, cancellation fees, commissions and other fees, and sales of public land. This series documents the work of the district land office Receiver and the finanical aspects of the disposition of public lands.
